In the summer of 1967, a high school senior named Nym Cooke wrangled 57 of his friends to create a silent gangster film, Doublecross. It sold out multiple shows at Lexington High School, started Cooke’s career in the arts, and forged a bond between students that remains strong to this day. Today, Cooke is a music historian and choral director who still meets his castmates for reunions, where they credit this feat of filmmaking with kickstarting their own careers and helping to create a lasting sense of community.
